Welcome to Natalie’s Educational Blogs! I am Natalie Anderson-Place, a visual arts educator, educational leader, lifelong learner, and advocate for equitable access to creative and performing arts education. I currently teach visual arts at Arrowhead Elementary School in Prince George’s County Public Schools, designing engaging, inquiry-based, culturally responsive learning experiences for students from Pre-K through fifth grade. My work extends beyond the art classroom. I am committed to integrating visual and performing arts across the curriculum to strengthen creativity, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, literacy, numeracy, and student engagement. Through curriculum development, grant writing, DonorsChoose.org projects, community partnerships, and professional leadership, I seek to expand resources and opportunities for students and educators. I am especially passionate about teaching traditional and contemporary creative practices, including drawing, painting, crocheting, sewing, and digital art. As a graduate student and emerging district-level arts leader, I explore strategic leadership, change management, adult learning, culturally responsive teaching, arts advocacy, technology integration, and organizational improvement through research and professional writing. My long-term goal is to develop sustainable arts initiatives, mentor educators, lead meaningful professional learning, and advocate for high-quality creative and performing arts programs in every school. This blog offers a space for me to share educational research, graduate reflections, leadership perspectives, classroom experiences, creative projects, and practical strategies to strengthen teaching and learning through the arts.
